Overview

The purpose of the job is to provide rural valuation, land agency and management advice for retained clients from the Gloucester office and to cover the wider west country and south Wales regions.
To develop work from new and existing sector client contacts, in association with other Team colleagues and BK Offices regionally.
Projects to be undertaken based from the Gloucester office and there is an expectation to travel throughout the south west and south Wales.
The job will require someone who is able to demonstrate at least 2 years post qualification experience in undertaking Rural Surveying related work and including loan security valuations, therefore being a Registered Valuer is essential.

Qualifications

Formal qualification to degree level that is accredited by the RICS and/or qualified as a Member of the RICS.
Registered Valuer status.

You should ideally have several years’ worth of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the Building / Construction / Roofing industry.
Responsibilities:
• Act as a specialist Roofing/ Building Quantity Surveyor
• Carry out detailed roofing (and associated building elements) surveys, scope and specify technical solutions that ensure roofing proposals meet all statutory compliance and industry performance standards. Prepare estimates/ quotations
• Analyse exact requirements and identify areas that have implications to Aspect Group Services Ltd. • Take into account health, safety, environmental and quality aspects of estimates
• Provide detailed “take-offs” and Bill of Quantities (BQs) using the Swiftest Estimating software and stock interfaces on Exchequer software package
• Develop in house rate build-ups, check against market and amended where necessary
• Work on traditional Plan and Specification and Design and Build Contracts
• Review weekly pricing enquiries received/ tender opportunities, summarise to Director’s/ Commercial Manager for determination and commercial viability
• Clearly mark BQs to identify items to be priced or have enquiries sent out, together with specification, prelim elements and appropriate drawings. Monitor and control enquiry process and dates for quote returns
• Oversee or complete the quote analysis comparison and make selection for inclusion in priced tender
• Contact appropriate person to arrange site surveys. Visit site and make all necessary record notes and take appropriate photographs. Assimilate information and take account of in tender pricing
• Assist with ensuring all quality, health, safety and environmental processes are adhered to
• Interrogate and analyse individual rates and prices, amend, create new or insert from material and subcontract quotes
• Using standard prelim forms build-up allowances for each project. Discuss construction sequence of project with contracts/ Operations department to enable a proposed construction period to be determined. Use to calculate prelim allowance. Consider other construction methods and determine the specific prelim requirements
• Re-assess build-ups taking account of all known conditions and requirements and adjust figures as necessary. Issue to Commercial Manager/ Director to have a cursory glance for errors. Make corrections if necessary. Seek feedback following all unsuccessful quotations/ITTs, etc.
• Prepare tender build-ups and arrange meetings with the Commercial Manager/ Director(s) to adjudicate the price prior to tender submission. Explain the project, the basis of pricing and the names of any other competing contractors
• Carry out adjustments to the tender based on the discussions in the meeting and complete tender documentation for submission by the due date

Required

• Driving license holder
